Beach Birthday

Best Buds: Ryan and Vance

Learning about dolphins

Searching for dolphins

They found one!

"A prize just for me!?"

Sunday we all trucked down to Crystal Cove State Beach for a great little beach birthday party for Vance's best buddy, Ryan, and Ryan's little brother, Neil. It was great weather and the kids had a really good time being animal rescuers, and searching for dolphins with their "spotting scopes" (see Go Diego Go for reference). Then they all took turns "fishing" for prizes. By the end of the party we had to dash because Vance was beside himself (he was so tired), crying all the way to the car. I didn't even get a piece of cake!

Matthew DeeDot turns 31

The Birthday Boy

Like mother, like son? Not quite...

Jase was trying to copy the wave in Grampa's hair

"I'll be your fortune cookie."

Time once again to celebrate at the China Bistro, but this time for Matt's birthday (which was actually the 22nd). Once the Zombie Bowls (very large drinks) were drunk, the fun really began! Great food, great company, great fun, what more is needed for a birthday celebration? Happy Birthday, Bro!

About a year and a half ago, the terrific moms in my "Mommy Matters" mothers group and I got together and formed a preschool co-op. Between the 8 of us, we would alternate houses where preschool would be hosted. The hostess would become the teacher, and the rest of us moms would be the helpers. We had so many great times, fun crafts, creative snacks, and inventive teaching techniques during our weekly preschool meetings.
However, as all our kids are getting ready to enter "real" preschool, it was time to bring our little preschool to a close. Hense, graduation day. It was all very bitter-sweet. But we have made life-long wonderful friends and tons of terrific memories!

Slip'n Slide!

While Mom, Dad and Kev were at a golf tournament (Meg was house sitting), Brooke, Matt and I decided to make our own fun. Amazing what fun a 25 year old piece of plastic and a hose can make! It's times like these I'm thankful that my folks don't often throw things away! :0)

32!

Mom and Dad

Yum!!

He likes it - he really likes it!

Learning to use chopsticks early on...

So on July 17th, I turned 32. There is no turning back - I am securely in my 30's. But I suppose that's okay, since I am totally loving life. To celebrate, Kev had taken me to a nice sushi lunch, and then we met my parents, Brooke, Matt and Jase for dinner at China Bistro. Asian cuisine was the theme of the day. (Matt was very kind to take pictures for me, so consequently there are no pictures of him.)
