Lightening vs. Bob

Vance's red goggles are very much a security thing for him. However, if you ask him who he is supposed to be while he is wearing the goggles, he will tell you that he is "Bob" (and don't you dare suggest he's someone else!). He surely loves Bob, but in widening his horizons he is also beginning to like other things as much if not more - ie. Lightening McQueen. This poses a problem for him because to "be" any other character would mean forsaking the goggles to take on the other persona...

So, the other night, Vance had just put on his snazzy new Lightening McQueen jammies. He of course had his goggles on, and to my great surprise, he (gasp!) took the goggles off and said, "Mommy, I'm going to be Lightening now. I'll be Bob tomorrow." I thought we had had a break-through! He didn't wear his goggles for the rest of the night (albeit an entire 45 min). I have to say I was a little sad thinking that this might be the beginning of the end. Ha!

Needless to say, the goggles were firmly back in place the following morning, and there they have stayed. So, in this match, the win goes to Bob! (Or in reality, to the ever-present red goggles.)
